“One Man’s Junk is Another Man’s Treasure” – this is such an old idiom, yet never has it be truer.
In today’s throw-away society, we sometimes forget how valuable something as simple as an old coffee mug can be to someone else.
We’ve always enjoyed selling old / second-hand / previously-loved goods – first to auction houses, then via the auction website, BidorBuy. Later, we found Gumtree and FaceBook particularly successful but now that we’re living in a small community, we’ve realised that a physical presence has its value too.
And it’s becoming a trend: Thrift pop-up-shops and Vintage markets are appearing in the suburbs all the time.
We sell something for everyone; be it that single mug or a crystal water jug; toys and tools; linen, ornaments, pictures, kitchen utensils and-and-and …
Prices are always good; it’s a win-win for everyone.
Most of the items are donations, from the community – for the community (although we gladly accept donations from anyone ☺). Funds raised from these donations are in aid of our local PlotWatch, a tireless team ensuring that all residents are kept safe at all times.
And if thrift shopping isn’t enough, we supply a great cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer) while you browse the shelves. Ranging from instant cappuccinos (we support Hug-in-a-Mug) to tasty South American brews (we support Vida e Caffé and Caffeluxe), you are sure to find a drink to suit your budget.
And of course, if you don’t want to shop – you welcome to sit under the trees and enjoy the coffee anyway while soaking up the tranquility that is farm-life.
